My car will not start sometimes. If I disconnect the battery, wait a minute, then reconnect the battery, it will start. What is being reset when I do that?

What is it doing? Cranking over and will not start or just will not crank over when key is turn to cranking position? Latter part could be a security issue also.

It cranks a little (sounds like it is starting), then shuts off immediately.

Thanks for the reply. The car runs fine. No misfires, etc. The problem generally happens when the engine is cold. Like I said, disconnecting the battery, waiting a minute, then reconnecting the battery is the only thing that makes it start. We have tried jump starting. That did not work. We have tried using all of the different keys. It makes no difference. Only the battery trick works. It must re-set something when we do that. What is being re-set?

Thanks again. I will give it a try. Intermittent problems are very frustrating, so I appreciate the time you have given to my problem.
