Im replacing my drum brakes and after I removed the wheel and the rubber cap on the backing plate, but I cant get the screwdriver in between the automatic adjusting lever and latch to release the tension between the brake shoe and the inside of the drum. What should I do.

I CANNOT FIND A DIAGRAM OF YOUR BRAKES

IF IT IS LIKE MOST---THERE IS A STAR-WHEEL THAT YOU MOVE WITH A BRAKE SPOON TO ADJUST THE SHOES OUTWARD---A LEVER "RATCHETS" AS YOU GO, TO PREVENT IT FROM BACKING UP

IN ORDER TO "BACK THE STAR-WHEEL UP" (MAKE THE SHOES MOVE INWARD)YOU MUST STICK A NAIL/ SCRIBE/ SCREWDRIVER IN AND "HOLD" THE LEVER AWAY FROM THE STAR-WHEEL SO IT'S DIRECTION CAN BE REVERSED USING A BRAKE SPOON. THIS IS TIGHT AND AWKWARD, WITH TWO TOOLS IN THE HOLE AT THE SAME TIME

LEMME KNOW IF THIS HELPS
