On my Corolla 2003, the door ajar light stays on even after all doors are closed. How do I fix that without major dealership expenses

Try this 1st
get a can of penetrating oil like WD40 open door and spray in the latch open and close door few times and spray again repeat on all door
scan tool should show the open door switch

Another thing to check, there is quite often a button or swith that the door pushes in when it's closed all the way, a lot of times they are just made of cheap plastic and break off. Locate the switch and check for it to be all in one place.
