when in 5th gear hear grinding noise

when vehicle in motion, change gear to fifth gear, get grinding noise, pick up speed noise gets louder

If the noise is only in 5th gear i feel that the problem is internal of the gear box, i feel that this will have to be inspected, look at the transmission oil first for signs of metal.
