Bought 5 months ago. Occasionally ignition would lock, (maybe 3 times)and I would have to jiggle the gears and steering wheel to unlock. One day last week the key would turn, all the interior lights, radio, heater came on but engine would not turn over. Then it did and USUALLY will start now. This has happened 2 more times since. It then runs like a top. I just had a total hip replacement and have not been working for a couple months and I can't afford anything extra, so if you could help me figure this out a bit before I go to a mechanic I would so appreciate it.

It sounds like the problem is in the key tumbler since it won't turn at times. Have you tried to simply lube the tumbler?
