Bad burning smell. Removed heater motor/fan. Burned connection at one lead. Wire burned right off. Burned at fan unit as well. Replace fan unit or resistor or both?

I would have the components tested first before deciding what to replace but if the fan motor is aged, it is best to have it replaced, with the resistor.
