I was at a light an the car just cut off, I tried to start it an it wouldn't then I pumped the gas and then it started. Could it be the fuel pump

So it runs good now? Sounds more like a bad crankshaft sensor they are more random then a fuel pump failing. Have you checked for codes in the computer yet?

Yep, the fuel pump can go out and pumping fuel can help the fuel pump come back to life, here is how to change it out which should fix the problem.
