The steering wheel no longer locks in a vertical position anymore. I was told that it is bent and the cheapest way to go is to replace the whole column, because it would be very labor intensive. The price varies on the recycling search engine, I think that some of the columns listed might not be a full column. What should I be asking for to make sure I get all the parts I need for this repair, is there more then the steering column that I should replace at that time, when I ask for a steering column is it a total package? Also what is your opinion about this course of action for the repair.
Thank you for taking the time to answer this.

You would be asking for the whole column it should come as one piece if it comes with the ignition housing you will have to put your ignition cylinder in there and relearn the new pass lock. If it doesn't have the ignition housing you will need two new shear bolts to install your ignition housing. Is there a pick a part around you that you can go pull your own column? There is nothing else I can think about you replacing when you replace the column.
