Rover 45 smokes

Hello

I have a rover 45 2.0 TD 2003, just fitted a second hand gear box now car smokes when changing down under tork and car revs nearly redline at 90 mph, also uses alot more diesel this was never the case.

Please Help

You sure the transmission is not slipping and also leaking
