Check for vacuum leaks and check the idle air control valve (IAC). The IAC is responsible for maintaining the engine idle speed.

There are vacuum hoses on the engine. Check to see if any are damaged or disconnected. As far as the IAC, remove it and have a helper turn the key from on to off a few times so you can check to see if the pentil at the end of the IAC is moving.

When you turn the key from the run position to off, you should see it move. It will not move a lot, so pay close attention to it.

IF it doesn't move, check to make sure there is power to it. If there is, replace the part. If there is no power, then we need to check for wiring issues.
