can i use the cigarette lighter without turning the ignition on,i need to charge a security light up over night

Some manufacturers leave their lighter or 12V power supply sockets hot all the time and some do not and sometimes it is a combination. You will just have to try and see if there is power by using the cigarette lgihter, if so equpipped, to test the socket with igntion off.
