Belt has broken.Can I still safely drive car without this belt .Will car overheat etc

I wouldn't because it is going to set codes and won't run correctly

Thanks again for the info.I have replaced the belt and now the message center is completly blank and not working.Could this computer problem be a result of that broken belt?

check your battery for condition including load test it may be low due to belt breaking. also check fuses. both underhood as well as in car. it may need scanning to see what went wrong with it.
