how do i get the alternator out of this pontiac

Removal & Installation

1. Disconnect negative battery cable. Rotate and secure engine forward to access rear generator bolts. Remove generator BAT terminal nut and lead. Remove drive belt. Remove generator front bolt and rear bolts.
Remove generator from bracket and position generator above drive axle. Remove drive belt tensioner and generator bracket.

CAUTION: Do not disconnect power steering pipes from power steering pump.



2. Remove power steering pipes from power steering pipe retainer. Remove fuel pressure test port (Schrader valve) cap from fuel injector rail. Remove power steering pump and reposition power steering pump in
front of timing chain cover in order to provide access for generator. Remove electrical harness from retainer on right fender well and position aside. Remove generator.
3. To install, reverse removal procedure. Tighten bolts and nuts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
