2003 Olds Silhouette Transmission lever moves but it will not go in gear.

I would suggest starting with the basics.
Check the transmission fluid level and condition.
Try shifting through each gear and see if any works.
Did the transmission showed any irregularities prior to this occurring?
Any other information that you think might help?

The van was serviced today (oil change, state inspection and fluid levels checked). The shift lever moves up and down, the indicater stays in P (park). The transmission stays in park and will not go in gear. Transmission level is at full mark. Hope this helps in diagnostics

Yes, the information helps.
The gear shift linkages have a faut somewhere. Check for broken cable, dislodged clipsand missing bolts/bushes.

Thankx for the help it is fixed the cable clip had slipped off of t he transaxle. Replaced and it "clicked" in place. Thankx again!
