I have a static sound in my speakers (all 6). When I hit the brakes it will stop for a while. It even does it with the ignition turned off. I will get in the car in the morning and it will crackle before I put the key in the ignition. I pulled the fuse about 6 months ago because it was driving me nuts. I MISS MY RADIO! Please help, Jack

Hi:

This is an odd problem in a way, but not so in another. In past years, when you would get static through the radio, it was caused by a electrical field made by the ignition system. However, since you radio is making noise when you just hit the brakes, I feel confident that there is a ground issue and power is somehow feeding through the system. Check to see if there are any body grounds that are corroded or broken. Also, and I know this sounds odd, check to make sure the antenna in the rear of the radio is pushed in the entire way. In some cases, the radio ground is provided through the antenna.

Thanks. I'll check it out asap. One correction on your answer. It stops making noise when I apply the brakes.
