2003 olds alero 4cyl.
I was driving home and after I stopped to get gas the car started making a noise coming from under hood. Sounds rough, almost grinding type noise. Car is not idling funny. Not overheating. No smells. No smoke oit of exhaust. Revs up fine. Accelerates and decelerates fine. Can kind of feel something in brake pedal. I know back brakes have been squealing a little bit a few times recently. Popped the hood when I pulled in driveway and sound is loudest by back of engine on passenger side where pulleys and belt are located at. Such a loud and mysterious noise to have and no other known problems with car

If you hear the noise near the belt area, I recommend that you remove the belt and spin the belt driven accessories by hand to see which one feels tight or is making noise. Also, check to see if there is excessive play up and down in any of the pulleys.

Let me know what you find.
