Squeaks can be due to worn ball joints. When one separates you're headed for a crash or at least loss of control and you won't be able to drive it. If it's something less serious like a lower control arm bushing, they are mainly irritating but if bad enough they can cause handling problems and tire wear.

The place to start is with an inspection at any tire and alignment shop.
