2003 Mercury Sable Temp Gauge On Working There 2 Wires Sensor Both Attached

the temp gauge on my 2003 sable is not working. there are 2 wires to the sensor, both attached and seem to be good. is there a fuse, or could the sensor be bad, how do i check it.

the sensor you are looking at by the thermostat is the coolant sensor, not the temp sensor. there is a second sensor for this.

what motor?? dohc or ohv??
