2003 Mercedes Benz S430 Key Would Open Start Car Replaced 10 Yr Old Battery

Key would not open or start car. Replaced 10 yr old battery for car. Key will not turn engine over. Tested battery in key and it stated it was a good battery. Used second key for car and it will turn over engine. Need to know why the first key has stopped working.
