An independent mechanic changed my two front rotors, pads, sensors and right passenger side wheel bearing. Afterwards, the SBC system was completely malfunctioning; Brake, ABS, SBC messages. When I first start cart and apply brakes, a noticeable binding and gripping of wheel bearing front repair occurs. Toof to MBZ dealer for Star diagnosis and they indicated the repair job was shoddy, separation issue with bearing. SBC unit needed replacing, etc. The indy mechanic did NOT deactivate the SBC system, nor bleed brakes, and resurfaced the rotors. It took three days working on car to even get it driveable. No diagnostic system used except a little handheld device that he used. He even took car to "buddy" shop across street to try and turn off messages...unsuccessful. My question is did the indy mechanic's negligence cause the dysfunction and problem of the SBC system? What can be done to rectify the poor repair?

it sounds like the shop did not have the proper information or equipment to complete the job correctly.

the dealer will need to complete the job but as far as the other shop, thats between you and them to settle. they should refund you the money they charged you for the job.

Thank you Roy! So, did the indy mechanic create the numerous malfunction messages and wheel bearing separation problems? I do have the Bureau of Automotive Repair investigating, and it would help if you could confirm that the SBC unit requires a system's specific knowledge.

I cannot confirm anything without me personally checking it myself as I am here and not there. you would need a statement from the dealer to confirm that and that is assuming there was no issue prior to his repair
