2003 Kia Spectra. Just replaced (new) alternator. 1 week later car dies at night and is unable to move automatic gearshift into any gear. Bump car forward and get shifter to release. Tow home. Sometimes won't get spark. If starts, depress brake or turn on any electrical - car dies and starts making clicking and buzzing noises under hood. Shifter intermittent at releasing. ODB tester keeps saying "turn ignition on" and I do but it won't read that it is on.
Any ideas what to check?

Start with basics. Charge and test the battery. If that tests good, test the charging system in the car.

Battery fine. Unable to test charging system. Car will either have no spark or not remain running for more then a minute. Stutters, stalls and then buzzes all over engine.
