Hello,
The transmission range switch is located at the top of the transmission where the shift cable connected here are the diagrams below that will show you how to test and change it out. This guide can help as well
Check out the diagrams (Below). Please run this test and get back to us.

Thanks for the quick reply & diagram. Not sure if this is the problem but it's a starting point. It will not start all the time in park or neutral. Have to play with the key switch then dadahhhh. She's running!

Do you have a test light?If so next time it won't turn over with everything plugged in put the key in the start position at the park neutral switch you should have power at the blue wire and the red wire. Let me know what you find.

Sorry its taken so long to reply back but I'm happy to say that the Kia hasn't missed a beat since I asked for some help with this! Go figure eh :). I will definately let you know though if it does happen again.
