aircon / heater fan worked on all speeds, then lost 1st, now only operating on hi.

Although that can be a bad switch or wiring, it is usually caused by a bad "blower motor resister" which is located in the blower housing, next to the blower motor. Another thing to consider is the cause of the failure. Excessive draw from the blower motor is a common reason for the resister to fail if it happens more than once.
