You might consult with a "commercial parts manager" (the guy who finds/ sells/ delivers parts to your local mechanics) at a local parts store (such as at Advance Auto Parts).
This person might steer you to the 'right' mechanic who might deal with your kind of vehicle and take the time to tell you the procedure.
As much as I hate recommending this, the dealership might be a second option, if they will aid you.
Sorry I was no help, these new rigs are something else when it comes to something that used to be fast/ easy/ and used to be simple.
I am so glad I am still living in the 1940's - 1980's!
