How do I remove a shift cable from the car listed above manual transmission? Removing the clips from the bracket by the transmission and how do I get the cables out through the firewall? I have both ends completely disconnected I am just not sure how to unbolt the metal plate that holds the cables in the firewall. Is there anyway to get to them without taking the whole dash apart? I can see them I am just not sure how to get to them with a wrench or socket. Thanks in advance.

Hello.

The job is not too bad. You must remove the shift plate from the inside to install the new cable. Where the cable goes through the bulkhead, there should be a grommet. It may be held in place just by friction, or it may have a bolt/flange/bracket securing it.

Here are diagrams to help you to see how to do the job.

Check out the diagrams (below)

Please let us know what you find. We are interested to see what it is.

Cheers, Ken

You have to pull the clips out for the cables on the transmission and under the console. Then snake them in through the firewall. Then disconnect them from the transmission.
