replaced engine in 2003 hyundai sante fe 2.7l engine ran quiet for about 15 mins, then started to knock. newer engine 23,000 miles i'm not sure if it's from a sante fe may have been a sonata. Is the knock sensor vehicle specific or engine? can i take my old one from engine and swap it out.

you can take the old one and fitit in the other engine block as long as it's the same thread. Knock sensor may or can be specific to application. But not always. is the knock from spark or is it an engine knock. make sure to check that out.

Ensure the engine oil level is correct.

Does the knocking noise occur intermittently and seems to go away briefly when you feather the throttle?
