Do you have full coverage auto insurance that will cover this? I guess not. I'll post a diagram for left side tail lamps. Is the lamp assembly itself in good shape?

Note the diagram, check left tail lamp fuse. Not only check the fuse, check the fuse circuit for voltage. The tail lamp has to be energized before you get voltage to the fuse. At the rear, green wire with orange tracer is voltage for the tail lamps and tag lites. The black wire is ground, check both.

Are you saying it blew as soon as you turned on the lites. Then, I think the wiring circuit is shorted.

Yes that is exactly what happened so how do I fix that

You will have to find the short or replace wiring. Sometimes it's quicker to replace the wire than it is to find the short.

Find the wiring connector for the lites at the rear of vehicle, Take the connector loose, see if circuit still goes to ground. You can use a testlite across fuse terminals, if the lite comes on, it is still going to ground.

Just to add, note the diagram, the dark circle is a splice, backtrack the dark green wire with orange tracer, find the splice, take splice apart, you want to take the two runners loose from main wire, then check again with test lite.

If there is still a short, back track the green wire with orange tracer toward the front as far as you think necessary, cut the wire on both ends, splice in a new wire, at the rear, go well past the splice to cut the wire, at least leave a pigtail wire long enough to give you something to splice onto. Your local auto store should have plenty of wire connectors and shrink tubing.

The two runners at the splice, you will have to splice those back into the new wire.
