Hi CarPros. I wanted to ask..... Our 2003 Honda Pilot has been making a Clunk noise towards the rear driver side under cabinet for a couple of months. I took the vehicle to my mechanic to have the vehicle inspected and they could not find where the source was coming from. It will only sound when the car rocks due to a pot hole, or when exiting the drive way or parking lot. Any info or suggestion would be greatly appreciated

There is a tool you might be able to borrow or rent from an auto parts store that borrows them called the "Chassis Ear". It is a set of six microphones, a switch box, and headphones. You clip the microphones to suspect points, then drive around while listening with the headphones. You can move the microphones around to zero in on the source of the noise. Be aware that many mechanics have never seen or even heard of this tool. Suspension and alignment mechanics use it to find rattles, squeaks, and other noises.

Common things to look for are shock absorbers and struts, control arm bushings, anti-sway bar links and bushings, and loose or bent exhaust hangers. Don't overlook a loose jack or handle.
