2003 Honda Civic Hybrid wind shield wiper problems. Slowing down and speeding up on it's own. Banging the hood area of my car and then sliding off the window by the driver side door when wet. What could be the problem?

Quite likely the wiper links are stiff due to wear and insufficient lubrication.

The wiper linkages are worn.
