You need to get a slide hammer in most cases to remove the old seal. I have never been able to get a standard seal remover to pull one. Drill into it and then grab it with slide hammer and pull it out. Then get same size socket or seal driver to put new one in. Advance Auto ro Auto Zone loans out slide hammers and seal drivers.
