My 2003 GMC K1500 p/u does not consistently shidt into park when I stop. The indicator usually stops on the "R" (reverse). When i stop the engine it either continues to roll or it will sometimes click over to park. I seems like an electrical connection issue or a transmission linkage issue. Can you help me figure out what this is and how to reslove it? Thank you.

It sounds like the cable is possibly broken where the plastic portion clips into the bracket at the trans. Disconnect the cable at the manual shaft(trans), and see if the plastic sleeve that the cable slides in is broken. There is also a metal clip that keeps the cable retaining wings positively located in the bracket.
