car started sputtered and died

What is the part that goes into a hole next to the oil fill on the manifold, it is a long tube like part that bends an connects to something else.

It must have something to do with fuel because my car started sputtered and died. Looked under the hood and this part was disconnected bad seal where the connection is made.

Think it is where PCV goes with hose attached to the intake manifold. If it is off PCV air leak will kill engine.
