oil light

I have a 2003 Ford Taurus, and while driving every so often my oil light flicks on. What could be causing this ?

Check the oil pressure with a mechanical gauge,if normal replace the oil pressure switch. If abnormal could mean oil pump and engine bearing.

Check oil level (change oil and filter )
check and suspect oil pressure switch
remove oil pressure switch install a gauge and check for pressure if low suspect oil pump and or internal engine
