Tail lights stay on even when car is turned off. If I place my foot under the brake pedal and lift, brake lights sometimes go off. I purchased the new switch, which looks different. Can you please give me detailed instructions on how to change the new brake light switch under the dash on the driver's side at the brake pedal? Thanks a million.

Hello,

The brake light switch or as Ford calls it a brake light sensor is located under the dash on the drivers side. This sensor is held inplace by a clip that can be removed using a pair of pliers.

Here is a diagram to help you see how to get the job done

Remove the BPP switch.
Disconnect the electrical connector.
Remove the self-locking pin.
Remove the BPP switch from the brake master cylinder push rod.

These is no adjustment

Check out the diagrams (Below)

Please let us know if you need anything else to get the problem fixed.

Cheers, Ken

And if the wire that you plug into the brake light switch is bad also. How do you replace that?

You will need to wire in the connector which you can get from the dealer.
