Not sure if we need to take it to the dealer, or just replace the battery in the remote.

What causes the trunk on our 2003 Ford Taurus to randomly open by itself? It does have a keyless remote. Is it an issue with the trunk latch, or the remote

anything that shorts power to the switch could open it. Also, a bad body control module could cause it. As far as the FOB, if it is going bad, it could cause it. Leave the FOB at home to see if it still happens. Then you can eliminate that as a possible problem.
