2003 Ford Taurus Car Will Into Gear Idle 1000 Rpms There Whining Noise Which

The car will not go into gear. At idle (1000) RPMs there is a whining noise, which I assume is coming from the transmission. I have replaced the transmission filter and added transmission fluid. Any other ideas why it will not shift into gear?

front pump or torque converter has failed.
