Hello, I have an 03 Ford Explorer with the 4.6 8 Cyl and it seems to be missing and running rough.

I stopped by Autozone and they said its showing codes P0306 and P0316. I dont have a ton of money to spend on diagnostics so Im wondering what this most likely is? If it was you what parts would you replace first? Thanks for any help you can give me!

An easy test you can try is to switch coils and spark plugs with another cylinder. See if the problem follows the coil. You can do this with the injectors too.
Sometimes this type of problem is caused by the PCM relay too.
I hope this helps.

If I find that its just one coil/plug thats the problem would it be worth replacing them all. Or would that be a waste of time and money? I read that a tune-up is not called for until 100,000 miles.

I would probably just replace the one that is bad. If it happens again then I would maybe think about replacing them all.
