I own a 2003 ford expedition 4.6 2wd the idle surges up and down and is idleing high. Replaced the idle air control unit and maf sensor and have taken off the throttle body and cleaned it. I have disconnected the idle air control unit and it runs fine. I dont know where to go from here any suggestions !

Runs fine? The idle is very low about to stall? Thats where it should be with it disconnected.
I would look around for a vacuum leak. Pcv hose is real common

I would look into the throttle position sensor. I have had that problem a lot with fords. Good luck!

It is possible but it will happen again. Unfortunately, cars cannot fix themselves.
Are there any codes in the system?

I would have it checked. It may be something simple.
