Hook it up to the computer at a friends shop, it says that sensor is reading negative 40
transmission is not engaging 5th when driving and gauge reads overheating, needle goes all the way to H and the light next to it comes ON.
Where is that sensor located and can I fix it myself?

If I recall correctly, the factory trans temp sending unit is located on the valve body inside the trans. It is easy to replace once you remove the pan. I believe it was a 1/4 turn sensor and had a black plastic connector to it.
