what could be the problem for my heater blower not working but heat comes from the vent. What makes a dash thermostat not register, it stays on cold all the time. What kind of antifreeze should go in the engine?

first test fan plug for power. check fuse/relay/resistor circuits to fan. gauge could be dead or sender/sensor could be bad or wire/plug is off.
