this is my daughters car, I have never driven it. Does this cat have a 2 speed torque converter?

When driving down the road at 55 mph, the engine is turning 2200 rpm and 2400 at 60. Is this right? seams high to me. It has a 2.4 engine with 4 speed auto trans. I can't feel the converter locking up and dropping the rpm, can only feel it shift 4 times.

That sound a little high. You should feel the converter lock. Have the computer scanned to see if there are any trans trouble codes stored in the computer.
