2003 Dodge Caravan emissions

I replaced the pcv valve , hooked it back up. Started up, car idled, when put in gear it stalled. Sometimes when driving it doesn't feel like the passing gear is shifting right. But when I unhook the vacuum hose from the PCV valve, it runs right. There is plenty of vacuum coming through hose.
What is my problem?

Was it having the same problem before replacing the PCV?
