It almost sounds like you might have a faulty crank position sensor.
Does your engine crank over but not start?
Typically when a crank sensor goes bad, the engine can simply stall while you are driving and most of the time you won't be able to start it back up. It might crank but won't start.

An engine will need spark and fuel to start.
Since you have already checked to see you are getting fuel, next item is to check for spark at the plugs.
