Coolant warning light and STOP indicator come on when van starts up.

Recently the Coolant Level Warning light and STOP indicator came om when starting van. next evening it didn't happen - drove around the block and everything was fine. Today warning came on again. Coolant level is at maximum mark, no leakage anywhere. Any ideas what the problem might be?
