2003 Chrysler PT Cruiser runs hot

2003 CHRYSLER PT CRUISER
80,000 MILES • 2.4L • 4 CYL • TURBO • 2WD • AUTOMATIC

My 2003 pt cruiser will run very hot on long trip (60 miles or so) I turn on the heater and it will cool down.
I have replaced the thermisat but it still over heats. thanks

have the coolant system pressure checked for a head gasket leak
