2003 Chevrolet Trailblazer water pump/clutch removal

Cannot break clutch nut off water pump. Do I turn nut to the passenger side of vehicle(facing water pump) or turn nut to driver side toward battery. Thanks

Remove upper shroud for rad and disconnect electrical use special tool to disconnect fan auto parts may rent it.
