2003 Chevrolet Trailblazer timing chain

I changed the timing chain and now the oil pump won't engage

The oil pump is driven directly from the crankshaft. The drive gear is a slip fit design. Either the gear is bad, the pump is bad, or you forgot something. Did you install the relief valve plug? Were the drive gears correctly installed? Take a look at the pic below and see if anything was missed.
