i have a 2003 chevy trailblazer that appears to be stuck and revs high until passing 30mph this is a new problem? my brother said it might be air filter related but engine revs today it did up to 5 rpms help sound like in neurtal and I will blow the engine.. help please

It sounds like it's transmission related. If the check engine light is on, have the computer scanned to see if there are any trouble codes associated with the transmission. Next, have the shift solenoids checked. They may not be shifting the transmission at the right time allowing it to over rev.
