rear hatch door hydraulics

The hydraulic mechanisms on the rear hatch door of my 2003 Suburban no longer work. Is this easy enough to repair on my own? The door opens/closes fine, but doesn't stay up & is very heavy to lift!!!

Piec o cake get struts from parts store has instructions prop open with broom handle during repair
