2003 Chevrolet Silverado Possible Newly Installed Upper Ball Joint Become

Is it possible for a newly installed upper ball joint to become unpressed and break the snap ring causing the upper control arm to rest directly on the knuckle. This happened to my truck but I"m think the snap ring was never installed.

i dont see a snap ring for the joint. it look like it is bolted in

It is definately a pressed in joint, I'll try to send pics of the old and new, top and bottom views along with old and new joint seperated. thank you
